Learning After Fifty is an association of retirement-age people who share a love of learning. It is an organization that promotes social, cultural and educational experiences. We provide enjoyment, socializing, learning, networking, and meeting new friends. Our organization is sponsored by Hawkeye Community College. We are a membership-funded organization.

Temporary closings normally are emergency closings of College facilities designated by the President of the College for, but not limited to, severe weather, loss of utilities, and other possible threatening events which might cause concern for safety. In the event of temporary closings, announcements will be made over local radio stations: KBBG - FM, KCFI - AM, KFJB - AM, KFMW - FM, KKCV - FM, KHKE - H, KNWS - AM/FM, KOEL-AM, KOKZ - FM, KUNI - FM, KWAY - FM, KWLO - AM, KXEL - AM, KXIA - FM, and WMT - AM/FM. Announcements are also made over KGAN-TV, KGRG-TV, and KWWL-TV. Evening classes will be canceled on days that day classes are canceled due to temporary closings.You may also call Hawkeye’s Weather Hotline, (319) 296-4444, for announcements regarding closings/cancellations.
