Teaching for Learning Tools
Two templates that can be used to develop great designs for learning are the Linking Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum (LLTC) Framework (a planner to use for curriculum unit design) and the Attention/Learning/ Rehearsal (ALR) Template (a planner to use for lesson design).
You can never have enough tools in your toolbox for instruction and assessment, can you? Remember to have a clear learning target in mind before you select your strategies for instruction. The strategies you select must give your students rehearsal for performing well on the assessment.
To align your learning design, there must be a match among the interdependent pieces:
- What you want students to learn
- Why you want them to learn it
- How you will know that they learned it.
The better the match, the better the instructional design, and most importantly, the better the student performance results!
