JOB SUMMARY: This is a one-semester full-time position teaching chemistry. The primary instructional assignments include, but are not limited to Introduction to General Chemistry. This person may also work in the mathematics area teaching math appropriate to their teaching credentials. Other responsibilities include active participation as a department member with a focus on student learning, facilitating discipline-related activities, assessment of student achievement, and student academic advising as suitable. Teaching assignments may include various times, days, and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). A full-time teaching load of 15 credit hours is anticipated and includes evening teaching assignments. This individual will report to the Dean of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and Business.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field and demonstrated teaching experience in the Chemical sciences. Ability to demonstrate effective communication and teaching skills with students, staff, and the public. Ability to develop curriculum and an understanding of various learning styles and instructional modalities. Preferences include teaching experience at the college level and a doctorate degree.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Four-month position beginning in August of 2017 and ending in December of 2017. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
