Fine Arts Instructor

MON7 JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time position providing high-quality classroom instruction. Instructional areas will include drawing, ceramics, art appreciation and graphic design. Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). A full-time teaching load of 15 credit hours per term is typical. Necessary skills for this position include the ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses, employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assess student progress on a regular basis, and provide progress reports as required. Experience with or commitment to various instructional modalities such as computer-mediated instruction is essential. Beyond instructional responsibility, this position requires advising and providing leadership to students. The successful candidate will have experience with event planning and grant writing. This individual will be expected to demonstrate exemplary teamwork and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, other divisions of the College, and the community. Leadership opportunities are available in the following areas: committee work, expanding and integrating curriculum and alternate delivery formats; developing continuing/professional education offerings; grant projects; program promotion; advising and mentoring; and initiatives to increase enrollment of nontraditional students.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Fine Arts or closely related field. Preferences include experience in teaching art at a community college, and experience planning and organizing arts and culture events.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Nine-month contractual position beginning in August of 2017. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).
