Van Driver, Senior Companion Program

JOB SUMMARY: This individual drives a 15 passenger van on scheduled route in the Black Hawk County area. Picks up senior companions from their homes and takes them to their scheduled destinations. Transports volunteers to/from their scheduled destinations. Provides courteous services, assisting volunteers when necessary. Provides a daily log of mileage. Fills up the van with gas, keeps van clean inside and out, obtains and turns in receipts for gas purchases and van washing, and alerts program manager of any needed repairs or problems with the van. Provides other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma/GED. Valid driver’s license (D3 chauffeur’s license). Good driving record. Must be insurable (automobile). Must pass criminal record check. Ability to drive 15 passenger van. Must be reliable, prompt, and courteous. Ability to work with staff, volunteers, elderly clients, and the general public. Ability to work with confidential information. Ability to provide courteous and safe transportation service. Ability to provide excellent customer service and skill in public relations. Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction. Ability to assist riders if necessary. Ability to work with diverse individuals and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work a flexible schedule (hours vary 2-5 per day). Possess good organizational skills.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time position averaging 10 to 20 hours per week. Anticipated hours will be two to five hours per day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., two to five days per week (Monday through Friday).
