Machine Shop Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: This individual provides laboratory instruction to CNC students. Instructs and supervises students regarding all aspects of machine shop safety. Designs and demonstrates safe machine lab procedures and proper use of tools. Orders and maintains machine shop and welding inventory. Advises students regarding proper tools, materials, and supplies and issues same to students. Orients new adjunct instructors to the College’s program curriculum and machine shop procedures. Orients new adjunct instructors in the EMC2 program. Collaborates with faculty in the design and/or development of new course work. Provides necessary laboratory instruction to students in the absence of faculty. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree (CNC or related) and at least three years of related work experience (6,000 hours). Working knowledge of CNC and other machine tools and equipment used in machinist and tool making trades. Working knowledge of machining processes (lathes, mills, drills, grinders, etc.) and print reading. Ability to design, demonstrate, and communicate safe operating procedures on all machine shop equipment. Ability to direct students in proper selection and use of tools. Ability to apply technical skills, motivate and interest students, be personable and professional, and be able to learn and apply new concepts and ideas. Ability to exercise judgment in parts procurement and inventory management. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work with diverse populations, faculty, students, and staff.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
