JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time position coordinating and teaching in our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of the EMS program. Responsible for the scheduling of courses, clinical coordination, student advising and scheduling, program curriculum coordination, providing reports, and assisting with program marketing. Responsible for ensuring high-quality classroom instruction and leadership to the students of the EMS Program. Advises and provides leadership to students and maintains program standards and guidelines to meet accreditation from the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) and the Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of EMS. Assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports. Responsible for non-credit and credit instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements include a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and experience in medical or allied health education, training, including field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care. Must possess an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Paramedic degree or equivalent certification. Hold or be eligible for such professional license appropriate to the discipline as required by the State of Iowa. Experience with or commitment to various instructional modalities such as computer-mediated instruction. Demonstrates exemplary teamwork skills and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community. Ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses and employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives. Must be knowledgeable of current national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state certification/licensure. Ability to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, staff, and the public.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
