Continuing Education Transportation Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: This individual markets Hawkeye Community College and workforce and economic development programs to companies and communities. Participates with other staff in the coordination and set-up of equipment, facilities, and scheduling of instructors and personnel to provide training at company and college locations. Recruits, supervises, and evaluates instructors. Assists instructors with selection and customization of curricula and materials. Communicates and coordinates with company representatives for content, times, lengths, and locations of classes. Coordinates the delivery of general public offerings and multi-company training programs. Assesses company training needs and consults with company personnel for the development of courses and curriculum, and performs appropriate follow-up. Collaborates with college staff to design, implement, and evaluate standard and customized technical training activities, courses, and programs while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations. Collaborates with college staff and company personnel to develop appropriate company training plans. Orders and maintains specialized instructional equipment. Researches and recommends the purchase of appropriate training curricula and equipment for the delivery of training. Designs, develops, constructs, or provides direction for construction of training equipment and instructional aids. Prepares and submits class outlines and cost proposals to company and College representatives. Provides lead role for College staff in the development of company training programs. Sets up and operates multi-media equipment. Cooperates with Operations staff for accurate record keeping of training programs as prescribed by Hawkeye Community College. Collaborates closely with the Dean and faculty of the School of Applied Science and Engineering Technology. Serves on college committees and participates in team meetings. Exhibits and facilitates team behaviors including meeting management, testing for consensus, resolving differences seeking information and opinions, clarifying ideas of the team, and initiating discussions. Performs other professional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED and three years of directly related transportation work experience or combination of education and work experience. Demonstrated ability to plan and supervise the work of instructors. Working knowledge of modern principles and practices relating to adult education or teaching. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work with diverse groups. Project management experience in a team based environment. Demonstrated ability to participate in project teams and ability to initiate major parts of team based projects. Demonstrated experience as a team player striving for good internal and external customer relations. Ability to travel to and from work sites and meetings, day and evenings.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
