JOB SUMMARY: This individual provides leadership, maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, Cisco gear, server and network hardware, software, and applications. Delivers technical expertise, networking and operating system expertise, and project management. Diagnoses hardware and software problems, and replaces defective components. Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations. Performs routine to complex setup, installation, and configuration of the operating system (including hardware and software), new software releases, and upgrades. Oversees the monitoring, assessment, and reporting of network and server bandwidth and resource utilization. Approves, coordinates, and executes upon approved adjustments and changes that increase performance and availability. Provides ongoing review of capacity requirements in order to align with budget planning. Reviews and approves ongoing network design, security analysis/design and implementation, definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research. Delivers up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories. Reviews, manages, and approves related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc. When necessary, coordinates support with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution. Ensures integrity and availability of data by monitoring data backup operations. Recommends changes where warranted. Provides advance notification of all planned system and network outages and set realistic expectations on availability. Coordinates planned outages with the user community. Provides leadership and communicate closely with management and help desk during all unplanned outages. Manages pertinent paperwork and records as required. Meets client’s expectations and attentive to the needs of users. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree and minimum four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing a Cisco-based network and Cisco VoIP products. Industry standard Cisco certifications required. Experience supporting wired and wireless environments across a multi-site enterprise including outdoor wireless appliances. Experience supporting Cisco VoIP in a multi-site enterprise. Minimum of two (2) years of current experience providing server side network/systems support within a Windows Server 2008 OS environment. Minimum of two (2) years of current experience utilizing Microsoft Active Directory. Minimum of two (2) years of current experience within a VMware environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and networking projects. Ability to provide leadership and communicate effectively. Ability to analyze/interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Solid troubleshooting skills. Ability to work closely with team members including overall guidance of network operations. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with end users and technical staff. Strong customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
