How To Apply for Aid
Apply for Financial Aid in four easy steps.
- Complete a FAFSA to be considered for all types of financial aid.
- Hawkeye's FAFSA college code is 004595.
- It is recommended that a FAFSA should be completed by July 1.
Student Aid Report (SAR)
- The federal processing center will send you the SAR in approximately 2 weeks after submitting the FASFA
- SAR report will indicate if your application is selected for the “verification” process. Selected applicants must submit:
- A signed copy of student and parents (if a dependant) Federal Income Tax Return from the previous year
- A Federal verification worksheet which will be mailed to the applicant by the Financial Aid Office.
- Review your SAR. If needed, make any corrections and resubmit the SAR back to the processor.
- If no corrections are needed, keep the SAR for your records.
Financial Aid Award Letter
- The Hawkeye Financial Aid office will send you an award letter which indicates your Financial Aid eligibility.
- You must return one copy of the letter to the Financial Aid Office accepting or declining each type of financial assistance.
Federal Direct Stafford Loan
If you choose to accept a Federal Direct Stafford Loan, you must complete the Promissory Note (included with the award letter).
