Week Without Violence Workshop

The YWCA of Black Hawk County will hold it’s annual one day workshop in conjunction with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, the University of Northern Iowa Center for Urban Education, Department of Social Sciences at Hawkeye Community College, and Hawkeye Community College.

The keynote speaker is Ricardo “Cobe” Williams and his address is on CeaseFire and The Interrupters.

Breakout sessions include:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Domestic Violence Against Women in Developing Countries
  • Sexual Violence Prevention

Registration

Early registration for the workshop is $55.  Registration deadline is October 2; registration after that date will be $70. Morning coffee, lunch, and workshop materials are included.  This program meets the criteria of the Iowa Board of Social Work and the Iowa Board of Behavioral Sciences for 6.9 hours of continuing education which will be available for $7.

The YWCA Week Without Violence™ is an annual national campaign highlighting practical and sustainable alternatives to violence in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
