Main Campus - Health Education and Services Center
Rain or Shine this event with be held!
Get splashed with color powder as you run / walk our 5K course to a colorful, tie-dyed finish!
All proceeds from the Powder 5K Fun Run/Walk will be given to students scholarships at Hawkeye.
The course will begin at the Health Education and Services Center and take you towards Arboretum Drive, looping back towards the Health Education and Services Center, out to the track where you will complete two laps, and finish in front of the Health Education and Services Center.
Wear white, it shows the color better.
Put your phone or camera in plastic bag so it doesn’t get the color dust in it.
Bring a towel to set on for your drive home.
You may want to bring a bandana to cover your hair; it can also be used to cover your mouth.
Oiling your hair will make it easier to wash out the color later. Coconut oil or olive oil work best. A good leave in conditioner will do the trick as well. This is a particularly useful tip for runners with light colored or highlighted hair.
We will provide sunglasses, but you are welcome to bring your own!
When trying to clean off, dust off as much dry powder as you can before you apply any water to your clothes and your hair.
Wash your gear separately, with COLD water. Oxi-clean or a similar product will work wonders.
The color will eventually wash out, but maybe rethink bringing new shoes or nice strollers.
Bring a friend and enjoy the color!
