Application Procedures

Applying for Reinstatement: An international student record in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) can be terminated for a numbers of reasons (absent from country, the student did not resume the full course load, etc.) When a DSO terminates a record, the student must either apply for reinstatement or leave the country.

Optional Practical Training (OPT): An international student is eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training after being in full time F-1 status for one academic year. Optional Practical Training can be of two types: pre-completion Optional Practical Training and post-completion Optional Practical Training.

Employment Based on Economic Hardship: International students who have been in F-1 status for one full academic year and are experiencing economic hardship due to unforeseen events may be eligible to apply for employment authorization due to economic hardship.
