Admission to the College of NursingWe recommend that you work closely with a Hawkeye advisor and a University of Iowa transfer advisor to ensure that you are completing all of the necessary course requirements. These requirements are subject to change without notice. Please check with the University of Iowa for verification of courses. In most cases, it is advisable to transfer prior to completing an Associate degree. Minimum Admission Requirements -
Complete the minimum high school requirements. -
Minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.7 or higher with a required “C” or higher in all prerequisite courses. -
Complete the following pre-professional curriculum with a C grade or higher in each course. Admission NotesAdmission to the College of Nursing is extremely competitive. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission to the College of Nursing. The admissions committee selects the best-qualified applicants from all candidates. Approximately 75 students are admitted to study each Fall and Spring semester. The number and quality of the applicants determine competitiveness of the applicant pool. Application DeadlineApplications must be received by March 1 for Fall Semester admission. Applications must be received by October 1 for Spring Semester admission. Foreign Language General Education RequirementYou are required to complete the Foreign Language requirement for the College of Business if you have not: - earned an Associate of Arts degree,
- graduated high school between 1985-1991 and have at least 24 credit hours or more earned, or
- graduated high school prior to 1985.
Students may be admitted without this requirement on a conditional basis. To fulfill the Foreign Language requirement you must: - complete two years of a foreign language in high school, OR
- complete two semesters of a foreign language in college, AND
- complete intermediate courses of the same foreign language at Iowa.
