Emphasis Areas

Students who plan to graduate from Hawkeye with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts may choose to follow the guidelines of an emphasis area.

Choosing an emphasis area will help guide your choice of electives in your Liberal Arts degree. It may also help you determine if the career track is the right choice for you.

Hawkeye's emphasis areas include:

We recommend that you work closely with an academic advisor in Student Services to help you map out the courses you need to take at Hawkeye. Working with an advisor will help ensure a smooth transfer to the four-year college or university of your choice.

For some four-year majors, you may be advised to transfer after one year at Hawkeye, depending on your transfer school of choice.
