The Associate of Science degree in Agricultural Science allows students to transfer for a four-year college with a background in agriculture.

Agricultural Science Transfer Program

The Associate of Science degree is designed to transfer to a four-year college or university and has a greater emphasis in mathematics and science than the Associate in Arts degree.

Degree in Agricultural Science

The Associate of Science degree in Agricultural Science allows graduates to enter four-year colleges or universities with 62 credits and/or junior standing. Students wishing to transfer with this standing must work closely with a Hawkeye academic advisor because specific baccalaureate program requirements vary.

Liberal Arts Core

Category I: Humanities 6 hours minimum
Category II: Natural Sciences & Math 12 hours minimum
Category III: Social Sciences 6 hours minimum
Category IV: Communications 9 hours minimum
Category V: Social Diversity 3 hours minimum

The Associate of Science degree requires a total of 62 credit hours with a minimum of 36 credit hours of liberal arts core credits and the remaining 26 hours as college electives. Up to 16 credit hours of technical courses can be counted toward the 26 hours of electives.

Students who plan to graduate from Hawkeye with an Associate of Science degree in Agricultural Science may choose to follow the guidelines of a focus area.

We recommend that you work closely with an academic advisor to help you map out the courses you need to take at Hawkeye that will transfer to you school and major of your choice.
