High School Students

Concurrent Courses

A concurrent course is a college credit class offered by Hawkeye at your high school or a Hawkeye outreach center. You may take any concurrent course if you meet your high school's requirements. Classes may be taken by any Hawkeye student.

Number of Classes

You may enroll in classes at Hawkeye and become a part-time student. This means you may take 11 credit hours or less, or up to three classes.

Credits

You will earn both high school credit and college credit for the courses taken. Your high school will determine the amount of high school credit awarded. After successfully completing a class, it will be recorded on your high school and Hawkeye transcripts. If you are attending a college other than Hawkeye after graduation, contact that college to be sure your Hawkeye courses will transfer.

Costs

Your high school pays Hawkeye for the cost of tuition. Your high school also provides textbooks for you to use during the class. You or your family will be responsible for the cost of transportation to and from class, field trips, and other out-of-class activities.

If you do not pass a course, you or your family will be responsible for all tuition and fees.

Enrolling in Concurrent Courses

These steps must be completed before your high school classes begin.

  1. Schedule your required high school courses.

  2. Meet with your high school guidance counselor to determine which classes to take and receive registration information.

  3. Complete an online registration form.
