2011 Annual Report

Report to the Community

Opening Doors is the mantra adopted by Hawkeye Community College to capture the focus of its recently launched 2011-2014 Strategic Plan. This plan was developed in collaboration with College employees and key stakeholders. The major initiatives focus on innovation, communication, integrated service delivery, and diverse learning experiences. The implementation process involves each area of the College developing three-year plans that align with the major initiatives and focus on the College’s vision for the future.

As the final major project funded by the $25 million Bond Issue approved by voters in 2003, the recently opened Health Education and Services Center has quickly become one of the most popular buildings on campus. It is home to several academic programs that include a health and wellness component, as well as environments rich with technology and innovation. This unique facility features a Student Health Clinic and a wellness center, allowing Hawkeye to offer students a full array of health services and a variety of individual and team wellness activities. We believe the combination of academic and extracurricular activities provides diverse learning experiences for our students.

Hawkeye is continually investing in leading-edge technology for the classroom. These technologies increase our efficient use of resources while decreasing our footprint on the environment. Economic development, job training, and retraining continue to be top priorities for the College through collaboration with business and community organizations.

I look forward to working with you. If you have not visited the main campus or one of the outlying centers recently, stop out and experience the difference that Hawkeye Community College is making. Working together, we are Opening Doors!
